Run Jurassic 10k 2021
25 September 2022
The award-winning Festival Of The Year returns in 2021 for an action-packed weekend of races. As the official Jurassic Coast Running Festival, there's so much more to this event than just really good running routes. We want to help raise awareness of the importance of looking after the gorgeous coastline that we’re lucky to have access to here in Dorset. We can't do this event this without the team at Jurassic Coast Trust who are an absolute joy to work with, and who are once again providing a great range of resources and on-site activities over the weekend to educate our runners and their families about the Jurassic Coast.
The 10k (ish) route is challenging, but allows you to take in the scenery along West Bay and Eype before continuing on to Thorncombe Beacon where you then start to return along the cliff path to Freshwater to finish. A gruelling 11k with a few climbs to reach the top of the cliffs and some steep descents, but well worth the effort for the amazing views along the coast.
This race weekend always has the unexpected element of surprise, but there are brilliant marshals along the route for you, with aid stations to help keep you fuelled. If you’re not sure what to expect here's a video of the 2019 event thanks to Film my Run, to help you get a feel for the race. Make sure you've read all the important runners' information on the website before signing up.
The race starts at 8.30am and race numbers will be posted out to all entrants who enter before 8th September 2021. If you enter after this date, you’ll need to collect your race number from race admin over the event weekend. Obviously, we don’t yet know what the situation will be with Covid-19. Procedures will be put in place to ensure people’s safety. For those of you who enter later and need to collect your numbers from race admin, please allow plenty of time prior to the start of the race to ensure you can do so in a safe manner.
There will be hot food and drink vendors ready to serve you pre- and post-race.
The cut-off time for the 10K is 2.5 hours and due to the dangers on the coastline we will be strictly enforcing the cut-off times. Water stations will be evenly placed approximately every 5 miles apart. Our minimum age requirement for entry is 16 years old. For general race questions, see our FAQs.
Prizes are awarded on the line for the first three male and female runners, with all finishers receiving their medal and some yummy Dorset food and drink for their race goodies.
