Run Jurassic Ultra Marathon 2021
24 September 2022
The award-winning Festival Of The Year returns in 2021 for an action-packed weekend of races. As the official Jurassic Coast Running Festival, there's so much more to this event than just really good running routes. We want to help raise awareness of the importance of looking after the gorgeous coastline that we’re lucky to have access to here in Dorset. We can't do this event this without the team at Jurassic Coast Trust who are an absolute joy to work with, and who are once again providing a great range of resources and on-site activities over the weekend to educate our runners and their families about the Jurassic Coast.
The ultramarathon starts at Lulworth and this very challenging route will take in breathtaking sights along the coastline travelling through Durdle Door, Osmington Mills, Weymouth Bay, Abbotsbury and Burton Bradstock. Weaving through landslides, over clifftops and around bays and headlands, this route is sure make you fall in love with the coastline. This will be a challenging race along Dorset's spectacular coast. This is a tough race, with some steep climbs, sharp descents and the most amazing views to reward yourself with.
This race weekend always has the unexpected element of surprise, but there are brilliant marshals along the route for you, with aid stations to help keep you fuelled. If you’re not sure what to expect here's a video of the 2019 event thanks to Film my Run, to help you get a feel for the race. Make sure you've read all the important runners' information on the website before signing up.
The race starts at 8am and race numbers will be posted out to all entrants who enter before 8th September 2021. If you enter after this date, you’ll need to collect your race number from race admin over the event weekend. Obviously, we don’t yet know what the situation will be with Covid-19. Procedures will be put in place to ensure people’s safety. For those of you who enter later and need to collect your numbers from race admin, please allow plenty of time prior to the start of the race to ensure you can do so in a safe manner.
There will be hot food and drink vendors ready to serve you pre- and post-race.
The cut-off time for the ultramarathon is 8 hours (15 minute/mile pace) and due to the dangers on the coastline we will be strictly enforcing the cut-off times. The halfway cut-off is Noon, and runners need to make the Lovestation™ by 2.30pm. Water stations will be evenly placed approximately every 5 miles apart. Our minimum age requirement for entry is 21 years old. For general race questions, see our FAQs.
Prizes are awarded on the line for the first three male and female runners, with all finishers receiving their medal and some yummy Dorset food and drink for their race goodies.
